The Canon Speedlite 188A is an automatic electronic direct contact flash designed specifically for Canon A-series cameras, such as the AL-1, AE-1 or AE-1 Program, and New F-1. It mounts to the accessory shoe of the camera where it couples directly with the camera's electronics to permit easy flash photography. On other cameras with direct hot shoes it will operate as an automatic flash as well.
